This premium was issued
by the THOMPSON AND TAYLOR SPICE company of the city of

States of America
advertising their brands of GOLD BAND Coffee during the 1890’s. It is designat
ed
as series K134 in Burdick;s American Card Catalogue entitled “LIFE OF COLUMBUS”. The front of the card features a colorfully illustrated scene from the life of Christopher Columbus. The back of the card features advertising for the coffee and gives an explanation of the scene featured on the front of the card This particular card is entitled “SECOND DEPARTURE TO AMERICA” . The front of the card also indicates that the wonderful lithography for the card was done by the
Don
aldsons Brothers company of
New York
(they also did many of the colorful Tobacco Card sets issued in the
U.S.
during this same time period. The Card measures just under 6 ½ inches by just under 4 1/2 inches approximately. The card does have some corner creasing and what appears to be paste remenants on the back and a collector in the past has written the ACC number in pencil on the back. I have scanned the card fairly large for you to be able to judge condition for yourself. This is a fantastically scarce cross-over collectable of interest to both Card collectors and those interested in Early American History pieces.
I will be trying to list several EARLY TRADE & TYPE CARDS over the next few days (spread across different categories),
including one or two that are unrecorded in any guide, that were put given away with Tobacco, Caramel, Candy, Gum, Chocolate, Bread Coffee Tea Cereal and other products, covering such diverse subjects as Native American Indians , Baseball , Football, Boy Scouts, Ice Hockey, Golf, Presidents of the United States, NCAA and IVY League Colleges and Universities and Circus themes. To view the other cards I have up on ebay please click on the “View Sellers other Items” Icon located on this page. It will take you directly to them.
I am actually located in Canada just across the border. I have a U.S.A. mailing address, and I mail my items from the USA to avoid border delays.
Due to my work schedule and distance to the post office I am only able to ship Monday Mornings
. If I haven’t received payment for an item the EVENING BEFORE Monday the item will have to wait until the next Monday to go out. Its unfortunate but unavoidable. If this doesn’t work for you I respectfully ask that you do not bid or buy. Thanks again.
